What an engineer does is to optimize the available scarce resources for finding solutions of the problems in the economy and society. Engineers use their knowledge of science, mathematics, logic, economics, and appropriate experience or tacit knowledge to find suitable solutions to a problem. This course is designed to introduce non-specialist students to some of the central principles of economics. The idea is that economic principles can be more readily understood if they are linked to concrete and familiar issues.
